Mr. and Mrs. Oates - Otsufusai

...A prehistoric site in Iraq, located at the western foot of the Zagros Mountains. In order to explore the relationship between the prehistoric cultures of northern and southern Mesopotamia, David and Joan Oates began exploring the Mandali area near the Iranian border, a knowledge gap area, in 1960. They selected this site from among several tells and excavated it, confirming for the first time the remains of the oldest irrigation canal dating back to the 6th millennium BC. The remains of the Samarran canal were excavated in the southwestern part of the tell, measuring approximately 2m in width, and showed signs of movement over time.
