Otto Peters, L.

[Germany]
In Germany, too, the interest of the women's movement was directed more at women's lives, professional labor, and education than at suffrage. The March Revolution of 1848 prompted Otto Peters (1819-1895) to publish a newspaper calling for women's labor rights, and in 1865, together with Auguste Schmidt (1833-1902), she founded the All-German Women's Association (Allgemeine Deutch Frauenverein). This association grew into one of Germany's leading women's organizations, calling for increased employment opportunities for women, vocational education, and the guarantee of rights for married women.
