Ottoman
〘 noun 〙 (ottoman, from "Ottoman Empire," meaning Turkish or Turkish-style) ① A type of long bench. Backless and thickly padded. (The Fountain of New Terms (1921)) ② A platform for the feet. ③ A type of weaving method for fabric. It has horizontal ridges and stripes . Used for women's clothing. ※Nami (1928) <Yuma Yuzo> Ko: "'Hey, what kind of clothes are you wearing? It looks soft and light.' 'What? An ottoman, suffix.'"
