The main Pratt & Whitney Group produces engines and replacement parts for aircraft such as the Boeing 747, DC10, and F16 fighter jets, as well as liquid and solid fuel rocket boosters. In addition, the group also includes Otis Elevator Co., the number one elevator manufacturer in the United States; Sikorsky Aircraft, a helicopter manufacturer; Norden, an electric gear manufacturer; Carrier, the number one air conditioner manufacturer in the United States; Essex, a wire and cable manufacturer; Dynel Electronics, a marine radar manufacturer; Mostek, a semiconductor manufacturer; Ambac, a diesel engine manufacturer; and Building Systems, which provides computerized energy management and communication systems for commercial buildings. Sales are divided as follows: Pratt & Whitney 27%, Carrier 23%, Otis 22%, aviation systems 15%, and auto parts 13% (1994).
