Odawara Valley

...The area around Danjo Garan is called the "Ten Valleys of Koya." In the Edo period, it was divided into Saiin-dani, Minami-dani, Tanijoin-dani, Honchuin-dani, Isshin-dani, Gonomuro-dani, Senju-dani, Odawara-dani, Ojoin-dani, and Renge-dani. According to the "Kii Zoku Fudoki," in the late Edo period, there were a total of nearly 500 sub-temples, and many still exist today.
