Odagawa

Japanese: 小田川 - おだがわ
Odagawa

It is a tributary of the Takahashi River that flows through western Okayama Prefecture. It originates in Jinsekikogen Town, Jinseki County, Hiroshima Prefecture, flows southeast into Okayama Prefecture, and joins the Takahashi River at the border between Sakatsu and Mabi Towns in Kurashiki City, and Kiyone in Soja City. It is 74.3 kilometers long, and 32 kilometers of it is within Hiroshima Prefecture. The river basin has been open since ancient times, and remains of the jori system remain. The old Sanyo Road ran along the river, and cities such as Yakage and Ibara developed there. Until the Meiji period, there was boat transport all the way to Ibara.
