…Also written as Abo. A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Abo-go, Kami-gun, Musashi Province. It began when Sanemitsu, a descendant of the Musashi Seven Clans and Tan-to, took the name Abo. After becoming a member of the Kamakura Gokenin (vassals of the Kamakura clan) and forming a marriage relationship with the Hojo clan, the family was always pro-Hojo, but the main line of the family was destroyed by the fall of the shogunate and the Nakasendai Rebellion. However, Mitsuyasu, who fought for the Ashikaga side in the same Nakasendai Rebellion and distinguished himself in battle, recovered the main line of the family's former territory, which consisted of the main territory and the Jokyu Merit Land, and also acquired new Merit Land, succeeding the main line of the Abo clan. …阿保とも書く。武蔵国賀美郡安保郷を本領とする中世の武家。武蔵七党丹党の流れをくむ実光が安保を称したのに始まる。鎌倉御家人に列し，北条氏と姻戚関係を結んでからは終始親北条的な武家となったが，幕府滅亡と中先代の乱で嫡流家は滅びる。しかし同じ中先代の乱で足利方に属して戦功をあげた光泰が，本領および承久勲功地からなる嫡流家の旧領を回復したうえ，新たな勲功地も獲得して安保氏嫡流を継ぎ，播磨における悪党的活動と風流で知られる安保直実などの庶子をおさえて，本領を中心とする国人領主として発展した。…
