… In Japan, gliders made their debut at the Meiji-Jingu Games in 1940, but after Japan's defeat in the war, all aviation activities were banned and could not be held again until 1952. They were later revived, and Oda Isamu competed in the World Championships for the first time at the 1956 World Championships in France. The Japan Gliding Association was founded in 1973 (becoming a foundation the following year), and the Japan Gliding Championships have been held annually since 1983. …
