Wang Ruofei (English spelling)

Japanese: 王若飛 - おうじゃくひ（英語表記）Wáng Ruò fēi

1896‐1946
A leader of the Chinese Communist Party. Born in Anshun County, Guizhou. He returned to China when the May Fourth Movement broke out while he was studying in Japan. He went to France as a hard-working, thrifty student and participated in the Communist movement. He also studied in the Soviet Union and worked for the Comintern. He was arrested in 1931 while working in Shanxi, and released in 1937. He worked for the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China in Yan'an, and was elected as a Central Committee member at the 7th Congress of the Communist Party of China. From 1944 onwards, he played a major role in negotiating with the Kuomintang, mainly together with Zhou Enlai, but was killed in an airplane crash on his way back to Yan'an from Chongqing.

中国共産党の指導者。貴州安順県の人。日本留学中，五･四運動の勃発で帰国し，勤工倹学生としてフランスに渡り，共産主義運動に参加した。さらにソ連に留学し，コミンテルンで働いた経歴ももつ。1931年，山西で活動中逮捕され，37年に出獄，延安で中共中央の党務に従事し，中共第7回大会では中央委員に選ばれた。44年以降は主として周恩来とともに国民党との交渉にあたり，大きな役割を果たしたが，重慶より延安への帰途，飛行機事故で殉難した。
