Subglacial period - Ahyoki

A period of temperature decline observed within a single glacial age. It is preceded and followed by interglacial periods with warmer temperatures. Usually, within a single glacial age, there are two or three repeated subglacial periods and interglacial periods. For example, the Würm Glacial Age is sometimes divided into subglacial periods W (Würm Glacial Age I Subglacial Period) to W, from the oldest. It is estimated that W was the coldest period, and W and W were warmer than W, and significantly lower than the warmest period of the post-glacial period.

一つの氷期のなかにみられる気温の低下期のこと。前後には気温の温暖な亜間氷期がある。一つの氷期のなかには普通2～3回にわたる亜氷期と亜間氷期の繰り返しがある。たとえばビュルム氷期は、古いほうからW（ビュルム氷期第Ⅰ亜氷期）～Wの亜氷期に区分されることがある。その温度低下の程度は、Wが最寒期で、W、WはWより暖かく、後氷期の最暖期より著しく低かったと推測される。
