Balanced Budget

In fiscal management, there is an argument that balanced budgets should be the principle and that deficit budgets should not be continued for long periods of time (balanced budget doctrine). This is based on the idea that, while relying on government bonds to raise funds tends to lead to an expansion of fiscal expenditures, if balanced budgets are the principle, this can be curbed and fiscal discipline can be maintained.
