A weaving attachment. It is a comb-shaped structure made of many thin plates (called reed fins) of steel (for power looms, metal reed) or bamboo (for hand looms, bamboo reed) arranged on a frame, and is housed in a rectangular frame. The warp threads are passed through the gaps between the fins. It is used to keep the warp threads at a constant density to determine the width of the fabric, to guide the left and right movement of the shuttle, and to make the fabric dense by beating in the weft threads passed through the shuttle.

機織の付属具の一つ。枠(わく)に鋼（力織機用，金筬）・竹（手織機用，竹筬）の薄板（筬羽(おさは)という）を多数並べた櫛形のもので，長方形の框(わく)に納まっている。筬羽のすき間に経糸(たていと)を通す。経糸の密度を一定にして織物の幅を定め，杼(ひ)の左右運動の案内となり，杼で通された緯糸(よこいと)を打ち込むことによって布の織り目を密にするために用いられる。
