… Brass improved by adding 0.5 to 2% of additive elements to 7-3 brass or 4-6 brass is called special brass. Admiralty brass is made by adding about 1% tin to 7-3 brass, and naval brass is made by adding tin to 4-6 brass. These brasses have good seawater resistance and have been used for ships and condensers that use seawater. However, as seawater becomes polluted, corrosion becomes a problem, so aluminum brass (Alublack) with about 2% aluminum and a small amount of arsenic added was developed. This has excellent corrosion resistance and is used in condensers, etc. …
