Year of death: Sadamoto 2.2.22 (977.3.14) Year of birth: Enki 17 (917) A mid-Heian period Onmyodo expert. Son of Kamo Tadayuki. He served as a calendar expert, Onmyodo chief, astronomy expert, chief accountant, and head of the Grain House. According to the Konjaku Monogatarishu, when Yasunori was about 10 years old, he was accompanied by Tadayuki to the Haraiden Hall and witnessed a terrifying demon, which he told his father about. Knowing that it was difficult to see a demon, Tadayuki was amazed at his son's talent and passed on all the secrets of Onmyodo to Yasunori, which is said to have made Yasunori a leading expert in the art. He was in charge of calendars and astronomy, and passed on the calendar to his son Kamo Koei and the astronomy to his disciple Abe no Seimei. From then on, Onmyodo came to be shared between the Kamo and Abe families. Yasunori was also keen to introduce knowledge from China, such as by asking the monk Nichien, who had traveled to China, to revise the calendar sutra. He presided over the rituals of Onmyodo, such as the Mikata-Gotei Festival at Jingoji Temple and the Zokusei Festival (an event to worship the star that corresponds to the year for the sake of good fortune) at Hasshoin Temple, and was active as an Onmyodo expert, fortune-telling and reporting on good and bad luck and disasters based on dates, times and directions. His daughter, Kamo no Onna, was famous as a poet and wrote the "Kamo no Yasunori Onna Shu." He also wrote the "Rekirin," but it no longer exists.
