He studied under Horikoshi Nisoji and was active during the Horeki-An'ei period (1751-81). He initially composed mainly at the Edo Nakamuraza Theatre, but after becoming a stand-up comedian, he collaborated on the creation of "Sanada Yoichi Iwatsusan" and other plays at the Moritaza Theatre. His first name was Sasuke, and his pen name was Macho. His other works include "Date Nishiki Taisho" and "Miyakodori Higashi Komachi".
