A Soviet female writer from Siberia. She began publishing her works in earnest from 1917, and became a part of early Soviet realism literature. Her strength was her intimate knowledge of rural Russian life. Her best-known novels include "The Criminals" (1922), which depicts homeless children in the early days of the revolution, "Humus" (1922), which deals with class struggle in the countryside, and "Villineya" (1924), whose protagonist is a rural woman who is influenced by revolutionary ideas. "Villineya" was adapted into a play in 1925 and was well-received on stage.

シベリア出身のソ連の女流作家。1917年から本格的に作品を発表し始め，ソビエト初期のリアリズム文学の一翼をになった。ロシアの農村生活を直接よく知っていることが，彼女の強みだった。革命初期の浮浪児たちを描いた《犯罪者たち》(1922)，農村の階級闘争を扱った《腐植土》(1922)，革命思想に感化されてゆく農村女性を主人公とした《ビリネーヤ》(1924)などの小説が有名である。《ビリネーヤ》は25年に戯曲化され，舞台でも好評を博した。
