1889‐1954 A Soviet female writer from Siberia. She began publishing her works in earnest from 1917, and became a part of early Soviet realism literature. Her strength was her intimate knowledge of rural Russian life. Her best-known novels include "The Criminals" (1922), which depicts homeless children in the early days of the revolution, "Humus" (1922), which deals with class struggle in the countryside, and "Villineya" (1924), whose protagonist is a rural woman who is influenced by revolutionary ideas.
