[Born] Kenko 1 (313) [Death] Ningkang 2 (374) A Chinese politician and military commander of the Eastern Jin Dynasty (→Jin). He was from the state of Zhang (Anhui Province). His pen name was Yuanzi. His posthumous name was Xuanwu. He succeeded Yu Yi as governor of Jingzhou, which was the largest town in the Eastern Jin Dynasty in 345. He destroyed Cheng in Shu, defeated the army of Former Qin, and attacked Former Yan. Huan Wen's goal in invading the Central Plains was to suppress the opposing forces within the court and achieve enlightenment. However, he was defeated at Fangtou (Henan Province) when he attacked Former Yan, and his prestige was diminished, and he died without achieving his ambition.
