A former town in Ena County, in the southeastern tip of Gifu Prefecture. It occupies the mountainous area at the southwestern end of the Kiso Mountains, and is located in the Kamimura River basin, a tributary of the Yahagi River. Forestry is thriving here, and konjac is also produced in abundance. National Route 257 runs through Ena City. In October 2004, it was incorporated into Ena City along with Iwamura Town, Yamaoka Town, Akechi Town, and Kushihara Village in Ena County. 130.96 km2 . 2,729 people (2003). 岐阜県南東端,恵那(えな)郡の旧町。木曾山脈南西端の山地を占め,矢作川支流の上村川流域に位置する。林業が盛んで,コンニャクも多産。国道257号線が恵那市に通じる。2004年10月恵那郡岩村町,山岡町,明智町,串原村と恵那市へ編入。130.96km2。2729人(2003)。
