A school of ikebana. It was founded by Teshigahara Sofu (1900-1979), who played a part in the movement to seek beauty in subjective imperfection at the end of the Taisho period. He founded the school in May 1927, after breaking away from his father, Teshigahara Hisatsugu, president of the Japanese Society of Flower Arrangements. This also marked the beginning of a new style of modern flower arrangement. It was recognized at its first exhibition the following year, and was broadcast on a radio home lecture course, which became a catalyst for its development.
