Ohashi Souko
1576-1654 A shogi player from the early Edo period.
Born in Tensho 4. The eldest son of Ohashi Sokei (the first head of the Ohashi family). The second head of the Ohashi family. In Kanei 11, he succeeded to the family headship and became the second Meijin of the Shogi-dokoro. He established the three rules of shogi-jishiki, which prohibit "double pawns, thousand-day stalemates, and playing a dead piece." He passed away on July 15, Joo 3. He was 79 years old. He was born in Kyoto. His works include "Koshogi" and "Elephant Play."

天正(てんしょう)4年生まれ。大橋宗桂(大橋本家初代)の長男。大橋本家2代。寛永11年家督をつぎ,将棋所2世名人となる。「二歩,千日手,死に駒を打つこと」を禁ずる将棋治式三箇条を制定した。承応(じょうおう)3年7月15日死去。79歳。京都出身。著作に「小象戯(こしょうぎ)」「象戯図」など。
