Born in Tensho 4. The eldest son of Ohashi Sokei (the first head of the Ohashi family). The second head of the Ohashi family. In Kanei 11, he succeeded to the family headship and became the second Meijin of the Shogi-dokoro. He established the three rules of shogi-jishiki, which prohibit "double pawns, thousand-day stalemates, and playing a dead piece." He passed away on July 15, Joo 3. He was 79 years old.
