Year of death: Tempo 12.9.11 (1841.10.25) Year of birth: 1797 A samurai and scholar of Japanese classics in the mid-Edo period. He was nicknamed Gonnojo, and also had the pseudonyms Shinobuken and Shinobuya. He was from Edo. He was a member of the Shoju-gumi (small ten-man group) of the shogunate, and published "Seishoushi" (first part published in 1840, second part published in 1841), which recorded the prohibited matters such as the shogunate's ceremonies and samurai laws, and "Denkyobukuro" (first part published in 1837, second part published in 1839) in small, portable folded volumes. He was accused of publishing the inner workings of the shogunate without permission, and was entrusted to the shogunate's Shikibu Shoyu (junior assistant minister) and died in confinement in Ayabe, Tanba Province (Kyoto Prefecture), which was Kuki's territory.
