A mountain in the southern part of Wakayama Prefecture, straddling Shingu City and Nachikatsuura Town. It is the collective name for the mountain range on the north side of Mt. Nachi, with a maximum height of 965.7 meters. It is made of Tertiary Kumano acid rocks, and is called Kogumotoriyama from the Akagi River, a tributary of the Kumano River, north of the mountain. The Nakahechi route of the Kumano Highway, which connects Mt. Nachi and Kumano Hongu, passes through it, and it is known as a rugged path with Ogumotorigoe and Kogumotorigoe. It is said that it was named Kumomotori because the high peaks seem to capture the clouds. It is currently preserved as an ancient road. In 1995, a photograph of Mt. Fuji, 320 kilometers away, was successfully taken from Mt. Ogumotori, and this mountain is the furthest point from which Mt. Fuji can be seen.
