…An important merchant and red seal ship trader in the early days of the Fukuoka domain. The Oga family originated in Nakatsu, Buzen, and is said to be a descendant of the Ogami clan. They moved to Hakata when the Kuroda clan was transferred from Nakatsu to Fukuoka. His father was Jinshiro Nobuyoshi, and his three brothers, Zenbei (Kami-Oga), Kurozaemon (Naka-Oga), and Soemon (Shimo-Oga), were all wealthy Hakata merchants who were given special status in the Fukuoka domain. …
