Hiraga [town] - Hiraka

Japanese: 平賀[町] - ひらか

An old town in Minamitsugaru district, southern Aomori prefecture. The main settlement is located at the southeastern edge of the Tsugaru Plain, and is served by the Konan Railway. The town produces rice, apples, and highland vegetables, and also raises livestock. The eastern part of the town is part of Towada-Hachimantai National Park, and Nurukawa Onsen is the western entrance to Towada Tourism. In January 2006, the town merged with Onoe Town and Ikarugaseki Village in Minamitsugaru district to become Hirakawa City. Area: ^{221.61 km2} . Population: 22,823 (2003).

青森県南部，南津軽郡の旧町。津軽平野南東端に主集落が発達，弘南鉄道が通じる。米，リンゴ，高原野菜を産し，畜産も行う。町域東部は十和田八幡平(はちまんたい)国立公園の一部で，温川(ぬるかわ)温泉は十和田観光の西口。2006年１月，南津軽郡尾上町，碇ヶ関村と合併し市制，平川市となる。221.61km²。２万2823人（2003）。
