Yoshinaga Ouchi

Japanese: 大内義長 - おおうちよしなが

1540-1557 A military commander in the Sengoku period.
Born in Tenbun 9. Son of Otomo Yoshiaki. Younger brother of Otomo Sorin. Welcomed by Sue Harukata, who had killed Ouchi Yoshitaka and Yoshitaka, father and son, he succeeded to the headship of the Ouchi clan in Tenbun 21. In Tenbun 24 he fought against Mori Motonari's army at Itsukushima and was defeated. On April 3, 1553, he was attacked by Motonari and committed suicide at Chofukuji Temple in Nagato (Yamaguchi Prefecture), and the Ouchi clan was destroyed. He was 18 years old. His childhood name was Shio Otomaro. His given name was Hajime Haruhide. He was commonly known as Hachiro.

天文(てんぶん)9年生まれ。大友義鑑(よしあき)の子。大友宗麟(そうりん)の弟。大内義隆・義尊父子を殺した陶晴賢(すえ-はるかた)にむかえられ,天文21年大内氏の家督をつぐ。24年毛利元就(もとなり)軍と厳島でたたかい敗れる。弘治(こうじ)3年4月3日元就に攻められ長門(ながと)(山口県)長福寺で自刃(じじん)し,大内氏は滅びた。18歳。幼名は塩乙丸。名ははじめ晴英。通称は八郎。
