...A hunting dog that originated in Mie and Wakayama prefectures. It is also bred in Nara prefecture, and was once called Ouchiyama-ken, Kumano-ken, Taiji-ken, Nachi-ken, Hidaka-ken, etc. depending on the region, but is now unified as Kishu-ken. There are two types: boar-ken, which are brave, fearless, and fast, and are good at hunting boar, and deer-ken, which are agile and good at hunting deer and serow.
