Spread-eagleism

...Pragmatism, which values ​​the initiative of democratic free people, is an ideological product of Americanism. However, on the other hand, Americanism also gave birth to self-righteous narrow-mindedness and spread-eagleism, an intimidating attitude toward other countries and ethnicities, as symbolized by the image of an eagle with its wings spread. The American Party (also known as the Know-Nothing Party) in the mid-19th century advocated respect for pure Americans while excluding Catholic immigrants, but similar attitudes continued to appear in America in various forms.
