Morifusa Ouchi

Japanese: 大内盛房 - おおうちもりふさ
Morifusa Ouchi

...A powerful clan in medieval Western China (illustration). It is said that Prince Rinseong, the third son of King Seongmyeong of Baekje, landed at Tatarahama in Suo Province, and Prince Shotoku appointed Ouchi Prefecture as his fief and bestowed the surname Tatara on him. The clan likely had iron smelting technology and was naturalized from the peninsula. From the mid-12th century, they were influential in the Suo zaicho (local government office), and since Morifusa, they have inherited the title of Suo Gonnosuke and were called Ouchi no Suke. In the second half of the 13th century, the Soryo family held important positions such as zaikokushi (local governor), and the branch families Toita, Migita, and Washizu also held important positions in the zaicho (local government office), and at the same time, they were Kamakura Gokenin (vassals of the Kamakura clan) and members of the Rokuhara Hyojoshu (councillors).

[Samurai in the late Heian period]
Regarding the Ouchi clan, we know that during the heyday of the Taira clan, four members of the clan, including Ouchi Morifusa, were exiled to the eastern provinces and recalled in 1178 (Jisho 2), but their movements during the civil war are unknown. As for other clans, during the Genpei War, when Taira Tomomori traveled down the Sanyo road and established himself in Oshima after the Battle of Ichinotani, Yashiro Genzo and others sided with the Taira clan, and when Minamoto Noriyori pursued him and traveled west, Naito Moriie fought against the Minamoto forces at Toishi Manor.
