Li Guangli - Li Guangli

A military commander of the Western Han Dynasty in China. His sister Lady Li was favored by Emperor Wu and gave birth to King Changyuai. Because of this connection, in 104 BC, he was ordered to capture quality horses at Eshi City in the Dayuan Kingdom (Fergana), and was given the title of General Eshi. During his first expedition, he ran out of food and returned to Dunhuang, but he received another order and led a large army to besiege Dayuan City, capturing it in 40 days and obtaining many quality horses. Furthermore, as a result of this expedition, the countries of the Western Regions, such as Kangju, also submitted to the Han Dynasty. For this achievement, he was enfeoffed as the Marquis of Haixi. After that, he went to subjugate the Xiongnu twice, in 99 BC and 97 BC, but did not achieve any great success, and during his third expedition to the Xiongnu in 90 BC, his wife and children were imprisoned in the Prison of the Shamans. In order to atone for his sins, he tried to gain military merit by invading deep into the Xiongnu's territory, but he was defeated, captured, and killed.

中国、前漢の武将。妹の李夫人が武帝に寵愛(ちょうあい)され昌邑哀(しょうゆうあい)王を産んだ。その縁で紀元前104年、大宛(だいえん)国（フェルガナ）弐師(じし)城の良馬奪取の命を受け、弐師将軍の称号を与えられた。最初の遠征は、糧食が尽き敦煌(とんこう)に戻ったが、再度命令を受け、大軍を率い大宛城を包囲し、40日にしてこれを陥れ、良馬多数を得た。さらに康居などの西域(せいいき)諸国もこの遠征の結果漢に服属した。この功績により海西侯に封ぜられた。その後、前99年、前97年の2回匈奴(きょうど)討伐に向かったが、さしたる功を収められず、前90年の3回目の匈奴遠征中、妻子が巫蠱(ふこ)の獄に連座した。彼はその罪を償うため軍功をあげようと、匈奴の敵地深く攻め入ったが敗北して捕らえられ、殺された。
