Wang Yang-ming

Japanese: 王陽明 - おうようめい(英語表記)Wang Yang-ming
Wang Yang-ming
[Genesis] Chenghua 8 (1472). Zhejiang, Yuyao
[Died] November 29, 1529. Jiangxi, Nan'an, China. Ming philosopher and politician. Founder of Yangmingism. Pen name: Bo'an. Name: Shouren. Posthumous name: Wencheng. A Jinshi in 1499. He served as governor of Southern Gan, minister of the Ministry of War in Nanjing, chief censor of the Censorship, and governor of Guangxi and Guangdong. During that time, he put down the rebellion of the bandits in Jiangxi, the rebellion of King Ning Zhu Chenhao in Nanchang, and the rebellion of the You people in Guangxi, and implemented the Ten Family Law and the Township Agreement, earning him fame both militarily and administratively. He initially studied Zhu Xi's philosophy, but had doubts about its theory of nature and reason. After much reflection, he realized the principle of mind being the same as reason, and on top of that, he put forward the theory of the unity of knowledge and action. In his later years, he advocated the theory of realizing the knowledge of innate virtue and promoted the trend of lecturing (the formation of associations of like-minded people to study and strive together). His books include "Zhu Xi's Late Years' Formula" and "Transitive Records."
