Kami

Located in the southwest of Shizuoka Prefecture, this area is part of Minami Ward, Hamamatsu City. Until it was incorporated into Hamamatsu City in 1991 (Heisei 3), it was a rare village area in Japan that was completely surrounded by Hamamatsu City. The village's former name was changed in 1914 (Taisho 3) from Asaba Village, which was renamed after the local government's spirit of "be beautiful." The area is served by the JR Tokaido Main Line and National Route 257. During the Edo period, it was a farming village along the Tokaido Line. With the opening of Takatsuka Station on the Tokaido Main Line in 1929 (Showa 4), factories for weaving machines, spinning, automobiles, etc. were established. There are also distribution facilities such as Nishi Hamamatsu Freight Station, a fruit and vegetable market, a fish market, and an egg market. There is also Kami Park, which features a swimming pool and an archery range.

静岡県南西部に位置する、浜松市南区の一地域。1991年（平成3）浜松市に編入するまでは、浜松市に周囲を囲まれるという全国的にも珍しい村域をなしていた。旧村名は1914年（大正3）浅場村が自治体の精神の「美しかる可(べ)き」にちなんで改称。JR東海道本線、国道257号が通じる。江戸時代、東海道筋の農村。1929年（昭和4）東海道本線高塚駅の開設を機に織機、紡績、自動車などの工場が進出。また、西浜松貨物駅、青果市場、魚市場、鶏卵市場などの流通施設もある。そのほか、プールや弓道場などを備えた可美公園がある。
