…They were Ming military commanders who had surrendered to the Qing and their descendants. They made great efforts in the Qing's pacification of China, were given titles of kings, and commanded powerful military corps to station themselves in various parts of southern China, exerting great influence. When Emperor Kangxi attempted to remove the Three Feudal Domains in 1673 (the 12th year of the Kangxi era), Wu Sangui rebelled first, followed by Geng Jingzhong and Shaanxi admiral Wang Fuchen, who joined the rebellion. The Zheng family of Taiwan also lent their support, and in 1676 Shang Kexi's son, Shang Zhixin, also rebelled. At first, the Three Feudal Domains were powerful, putting the Qing in a difficult position, but the situation soon turned around, and Wang Fuchen, Geng Jingzhong, Shang Zhixin and others surrendered to the Qing. …
