When Emperor Kangxi attempted to remove the Three Feudal Domains in 1673 (the 12th year of the Kangxi era), Wu Sangui rebelled first, followed by Geng Jingzhong and Shaanxi admiral Wang Fuchen, who joined the rebellion. The Zheng family of Taiwan also lent their support, and in 1676 Shang Kexi's son, Shang Zhixin, also rebelled.
