… The next major period of development in Chinese medicine came during the Jin and Yuan dynasties (12th to 14th centuries), but its beginnings can already be seen in the preceding Sui and Tang dynasties. It was during this period that the Taisu (Huangdi Neijing Taisu) was compiled by Yang Shangshan, and the Suwen (Su Wen) by Wang Bing. It is not clear to what extent the contents of these two books correspond to the books of this lineage that had been handed down up until that point, but it is true that the reorganization by these two men made them easier to read for people at the time, and this book, which does not appear to have been studied much during the Six Dynasties period, became widely read thereafter. …
