Enmeichiku bamboo

...The fruit is almost spherical, about 2.5 mm long, with thick ribs and somewhat woody. When ripe, it falls off and floats to the water surface and spreads. The underground stems are bamboo shoot-shaped in winter, and are sometimes cultivated in water basins and are known as long-lasting bamboo or mannen bamboo. The whole plant, especially the rhizomes, contains cicutoxin and a type of aldehyde, making it a well-known highly poisonous plant.
