The 115th Emperor (reigned 1735-47). Teruhito was the first son of the 114th Emperor Nakamikado. His birth mother was Shinchuwamon'in Naoshi (the daughter of Konoe Iehiro). He was made Crown Prince in 1728 (Kyoho 13). In March 1902, he succeeded his father Emperor Nakamikado and ascended to the throne. On November 19, 1903 (Genbun 3), he held the Daijoe ceremony. The Daijoe ceremony was revived in 1687 (Jokyo 4) during the time of his grandfather Emperor Higashiyama, and was a revival of the old ritual that had been held since Emperor Gotsuchimikado's time in 1466 (Bunsho 1). This was a revival of the ritual that had been discontinued during the time of his father Emperor Nakamikado, and it became a regular event after that. In 1747 (Enkyo 4), he abdicated to his first son, Tohito (Emperor Momozono). He excelled in waka poetry, and wrote anthologies such as "Sakuramachi-in Goshu" and "Sakuramachi-inbo Chugoe Waka." He passed away in 1751. He was buried at Sen'yuji Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto, but his current tomb is in Imakumano, called Tsukinowa Tomb.
