Born May 31, 1905. After working as a professor at Seijo High School, he became a professor at Kyoto University in 1949. He later served as president of Shinwa Women's University and a professor at Mukogawa Women's University. He was known for his research into the reading marks in ancient Japanese and classical Chinese from the Heian period. In 1954, he founded the Kuntengo Society and served as its president. He passed away on June 23, 1992. He was 87 years old. He was from Tottori Prefecture and graduated from Kyoto Imperial University. His works include "Kunten materials and research into kuntengo."
