Yoshimoto Endo

Japanese: 遠藤嘉基 - えんどうよしもと

1905-1992 A Japanese linguist from the Showa to Heisei eras.
Born May 31, 1905. After working as a professor at Seijo High School, he became a professor at Kyoto University in 1949. He later served as president of Shinwa Women's University and a professor at Mukogawa Women's University. He was known for his research into the reading marks in ancient Japanese and classical Chinese from the Heian period. In 1954, he founded the Kuntengo Society and served as its president. He passed away on June 23, 1992. He was 87 years old. He was from Tottori Prefecture and graduated from Kyoto Imperial University. His works include "Kunten materials and research into kuntengo."

明治38年5月31日生まれ。成城高校教授をへて,昭和24年京大教授。のち親和女子大学長,武庫川女子大教授などをつとめる。上代語および平安時代の漢文の訓点研究で知られる。29年「訓点語学会」を設立し,会長をつとめた。平成4年6月23日死去。87歳。鳥取県出身。京都帝大卒。著作に「訓点資料と訓点語の研究」など。
