A national treasure of Zen architecture in the grounds of Engakuji Temple in Kamakura. It was once considered a representative example of architecture from the Kamakura period, but it is now clear that it was built in the Muromachi period. However, along with the Jizo Hall of Shofukuji Temple (Higashimurayama City, Tokyo), it is the oldest surviving example of Zen architecture, and the patterns of the elbow beams and fan rafters can be clearly seen.
