Tibetan Buddhist temples in China. There are three: the Yellow Temple in Shenyang (official name: Shisheng Temple, completed in 1638), built before the Qing Dynasty's entry into China, the East Yellow Temple in Beijing (formerly called Pujing Zenlin, rebuilt in 1951), and the West Yellow Temple (also called Purifying City, built in 1952), built after the Qing Dynasty's entry into China. They are called Yellow Temples because their roof tiles are yellow. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
