Engakuji Temple (Aomori)

...The town is centered on agriculture, forestry and fishing, and is promoting squid fishing by improving Fukaura Port. Engakuji Temple in the eastern part of Fukaura is said to have been founded in the Jogan era (859-877), and the shrine inside the Yakushido Hall (an important cultural property) is said to be the oldest wooden craft in the prefecture. The area from Cape Otose to Cape Henashi is filled with cliffs, oddly shaped rocks and caves, and has been designated as part of the Tsugaru Quasi-National Park.
