Elene - Elene

…An Anglo-Saxon religious poet whose name was discovered in 1840. He is known as the author of the long poem "Christ," consisting of three parts: "The Descent of Christ," "The Ascension," and "The Last Judgment Day," the hagiographical works "Saint Juliana" and "Elen," and the short story "The Fate of the Apostles," which lists the names and deeds of the twelve apostles. All of these are representative works of religious poetry in Old English, but "Elen" in particular is considered a masterpiece that fully demonstrates the author's deep learning and traditional Old English poetic techniques.
