Eugène Freyssinet

Japanese: フレシネ - ふれしね(英語表記)Eugène Freyssinet
Eugène Freyssinet

French structural engineer. Born in Auberge, France. He studied the design of reinforced concrete structures under Charles Rabut (1852-1925), and in 1907 became an engineer for the Central France Road Works Department, where he built an early reinforced concrete bridge. In 1913, he became chief engineer for the Limousin Industrial Company, which was developing reinforced concrete structures, and designed industrial buildings and warehouses using shell structures and vaults. The airship hangar at Orly, built in 1916, is a representative work of his. He also invented the prestressed concrete (PC) construction method, which he used in multi-layered and underground structures from 1933, realizing many large-scale civil engineering structures. He practiced throughout his life the idea that new technology could enable new forms.
