El Ubaid - El Ubaid

...The carbon-14 dating dates to the 6th to early 5th millennium BC. The type was first discovered in a prehistoric settlement at al-'Ubaid near Ur, south of a temple dating from the Ur I Dynasty. In 1931, the Ubaid culture was recognized as the first in southern Mesopotamia, after the stratigraphic excavations at Ur confirmed the changes of Ubaid I, II, and III, and further compared it with the strata at Uruk.
