Born on May 1, 1712. A follower of the Otani branch of Shinshu Buddhism. He studied under Enen. In 1762, he succeeded his master as a lecturer at the school (later known as the Takakura School). In 1776, he negotiated in Edo to make the Jodo Shinshu sect a public institution. He wrote many works, including the "Muryojukyo Kansouki." He passed away on May 25, 1790, at the age of 75. He was born in Ise (Mie Prefecture). His pen name was Hogyoku. His pen names were Kiryo and Butsyobo. His Buddhist name was also known as Eirin.
