A private Catholic university with only one faculty. Founded by the Society of Jesus. Its predecessor was the Hiroshima Music School, which opened in 1948. In 1952, Elisabeth College of Music was established, and in 1963, it transitioned to a four-year university. The Faculty of Music has four departments: Sacred Music (the only one in Japan), Music, Vocal Music, and Instrumental Music. The enrollment quota is 140 students (1997). In 1990, the Graduate School of Music was established. The headquarters is in Noborimachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima.

カトリック系の私立単科大学。イエズス会が設立母体。 1948年開設の広島音楽学校を前身とし，52年にエリザベト音楽短期大学を設立，63年4年制大学に移行した。音楽学部の学科構成は宗教音楽 (日本で唯一) ，音楽，声楽，器楽の4学科。入学定員は 140名 (1997) 。 90年に大学院音楽研究科を設置。本部は広島市中区幟町。
