A private Catholic university with only one faculty. Founded by the Society of Jesus. Its predecessor was the Hiroshima Music School, which opened in 1948. In 1952, Elisabeth College of Music was established, and in 1963, it transitioned to a four-year university. The Faculty of Music has four departments: Sacred Music (the only one in Japan), Music, Vocal Music, and Instrumental Music. The enrollment quota is 140 students (1997). In 1990, the Graduate School of Music was established. The headquarters is in Noborimachi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima.
