An exclave of Angola located at the mouth of the Congo River in central Africa. It is separated from the mainland of Angola by the Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire) territory, which is about 30 kilometers wide. It has an area of ​​about 7,270 square kilometers, a population of about 84,000 (1974), and an urban area population of 718,915 (2019 estimate). The main city is Cabinda. The Portuguese arrived in the late 15th century, and a fort was built in the 16th century. It was officially recognized as an exclave of Portuguese West Africa (now Angola) by the Treaty of Berlin in 1885. It became part of Angola after independence in 1975. The land is generally flat, with an annual rainfall of 800 to 1,600 mm, and tropical forests remain in various places, and this timber is the main export. Oil was also discovered on the continental shelf off the coast in 1967, and is currently under development. In agriculture, the development of commercial crops such as cacao, oil palm, and groundnuts is progressing. The majority of the population is the Cabindan people of Bantu descent, and their educational level is relatively high.

アフリカ中部、コンゴ川河口に位置するアンゴラの飛び地。アンゴラ本土とは幅約30キロメートルのコンゴ民主共和国(旧ザイール)領によって隔てられている。面積約7270平方キロメートル、人口約8.4万(1974)、都市圏人口71万8915(2019推計)。中心都市はカビンダ市。15世紀後半にポルトガル人が来航し、16世紀以降砦(とりで)が築かれ、1885年のベルリン条約でポルトガル領西アフリカ(現アンゴラ)の飛び地として公認された。1975年の独立でアンゴラ領となった。土地は全般に平坦(へいたん)で、年降水量は800~1600ミリメートルに達し、各地に熱帯林が残されており、この木材が輸出の中心となっている。また1967年に沿岸の大陸棚で石油が発見され、現在開発途上にある。農業においてもカカオ、アブラヤシ、ラッカセイなどの商品作物化が進められている。住民の中心はバントゥー語系のカビンダ人で、教育水準は比較的高い。
