MICR - Medical Information Crime
A magnetic ink character reader. Magnetic ink is ink mixed with magnetic material, and a magnetic head is used to read it. A representative example of a magnetic character system is the E13B, which was developed by the American Bankers Association for sorting checks, and consists of 10 numbers and 4 symbols.
