[On the word "film"]
The zoetrope, a type of rotating peephole that was the predecessor of cinema, was invented in England in the 1830s, and when it was sold in Europe and the US as a scientific toy in the 1860s, the advertising slogan was "Spin the drum to see the picture move." From this came the term "moving picture," or "motion picture," which means a "moving picture," and it is said that this eventually became the term for cinema.
