Also written as tidal observation station. Tide observation is the continuous long-term observation of the height of the sea surface (tide level), which moves up and down with the tides, and the facilities set up for this purpose are called tide observation stations, and the instruments that automatically record the tide level are called tide observation instruments. Tide observation stations are generally constructed by guiding seawater through tubes into wells dug near the coast, so that the tide level can be observed inside the well without being disturbed by rain, wind, or waves. Two types of tide observation instruments are commonly used: buoy tide observation instruments and hydraulic tide observation instruments.
