Kanokoi shrimp (English name: Panulirus longipes)

Japanese: カノコイセエビ（英語表記）Panulirus longipes

A shrimp of the family Spinylocaridae, Crustacea, recorded from the Boso Peninsula southward, it is an important fishery species especially from the Okinawa region southward. Body length 35 cm. The ground color is blue, and the abdomen has many round white spots measuring 1-2.5 mm in diameter, giving it a herringbone pattern. The front spines on the cephalothorax have orange-yellow tips, and the rear spines have white tips. Apart from the pattern, it resembles the spiny lobster, but the arrangement of spines on the dorsal surface of the frontal plate (antenate segment) is different. The frontal plate has two pairs of large spines near the front edge, followed by a row of two to three small spines at the rear (irregularly arranged spines in the spiny lobster).

甲殻綱イセエビ科のエビで，房総半島以南で記録されるが，とくに沖縄地方以南での水産上の重要種。体長35cm。地色は青色で，腹部には直径1～2.5mmの白色の円い斑点が多数あり，いわゆる鹿の子模様を呈する。頭胸甲上の前方のとげは先端が橙黄色，後方のとげは先端が白色である。模様以外はイセエビに似ているが，前額板(触角前節)背面のとげの配列が異なる。前額板には前縁近くに2対の大きなとげがあり，それに続いて後方に2～3本の小さなとげが並んでいる(イセエビでは不規則にはえている)。
