...The famous Nara double cherry tree at Chisokuin in Nara City is a double-flowered Kasumizakura variety that blooms late, with pale pink flowers in late April. The Oyamazakura (Ooyamazakura) P. sargentii Rehd. (illustration), which blooms after the Yamazakura, is also called Ezoyamazakura because it is common in the mountains of Hokkaido, or Beniyamazakura because it blooms with red flowers. In Hokkaido, it blooms from May onwards and is found in many famous places, such as the Sakura-namiki line in Niikappu, the Otaru nursery field, and Kokutai-ji Temple in Akkeshi. It is distributed from Sakhalin, the southern Kuril Islands, and Hokkaido to Honshu, Ehime Prefecture and Tokushima Prefecture in Shikoku, and the Korean Peninsula. ...
